Braves Country Says Goodbye to an Old Friend

“Has an above average curveball. Could potentially become a highlight pitch” is what his scouting report said. Former Braves top prospect Tommy Hanson has passed away at the age of 29 after being in a coma since Sunday morning.

John Schuerholtz released a statement on behalf of the Braves organization.

“We are incredibly saddened to learn of Tommy’s tragic passing. He was a favorite in the clubhouse and with our staff and he will truly be missed by everyone in Braves Country. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, family, former teammates, and friends”

The cause of death was listed as a “major organ failure”. The exact details have yet to be released. Hanson’s career has gone downhill since the Braves dealt him to the Angles. His rookie season was by far his most impressive, having an 11-4 record with a 2.89 Era. He last pitching in 2013 and had reported multiple physiological problems after the death of his brother. This was a great young man who is another case of someone being “gone too soon”. RIP Tommy. You will be missed.
