The Atlanta Hawks failed to upset the Spurs in San Antonio. It was a fairly competitive night for the Hawks. They had a chance in the fourth quarter when they were down by only five. This game was a career night for rookie John Collins, where he had 21 points on 83 percent shooting, as well as grabbing 9 rebounds. Taurean Prince struggled from three-point range, but he also managed to put up 18 points. It is an encouraging sign that the Hawks stayed competitive for all four quarters, and that the younger players on the Hawks played hard as well. San Antonio is a top tier team, even without Kawhi Leonard, and it was never going to be easy to overcome their defense, especially with the Hawks trouble with generating offense. Ultimately, the Hawks struggled to gain traction against the slow and steady pace of San Antonio. The Hawks next game will be against the Clippers in Phillips Arena.
