Vic Beasley’s Injury: The Impact
How will Vic Beasley’s Injury impact The Falcons? In last night’s inaugural Falcons game in the new Mercedes Benz Stadium..Vic Beasley, who was the 2016 NFL sacks leader, had a sack against Aaron Rodgers that created a fumble that ultimately led to a third-quarter touchdown by Atlanta. In just minutes later, Beasley suffered a hamstring injury that’s being called a “slight hamstring pull”. Beasley was escorted off the field and into the locker room not returning for the remainder of the game. The Falcons won but not without a cost.
In his afternoon press conference, Dan Quinn said that Beasley would for sure miss Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions, but not much was said about him missing games after that. This isn’t the news we wanted to hear especially after hearing that his injury was minor. Update: Beasley injury will keep him out against The Lions, The Bills in week 4, luckily we have a Bye in week 5, and at least the Dolphins in week 6. One could argue that Bye Week couldn’t have come at a better time.
What does this mean for the Falcons and the rest of the Falcons players who’ll be active and our defense? It means.. Next Man Up! The Falcons will have to dig a little deeper in their already “deep” arsenal for pass rushing production. We also have an injury to Courtney Upshaw who we’re still awaiting status updates for. This also means the lights will shine brighter on rookie Takkarist “Takk” McKinley, who’s been very good the first two games of the season. He’ll more than likely step into a bigger role and get the chance to prove himself. If it’s one thing head coach Dan Quinn believes in- it’s “The Next Man Up” mentality. I’m totally confident in this team and our coaching staff and their game plan. Get well soon Vic Beasley! And get ready Takk… because your number will be called and The Falcons are gonna need you to step up big time!
